Was previously known to Boro fans who remember such things as the lippy one who had been guarding the post when Paul Evans’ header bounced over him for the winner at Barking in April 1997. Was comfortable on either side of midfield but returned from injury and holiday to find himself at left back, proving highly effective as well. Seemed to aim for the post when shooting, as every goal he scored crept in by inches and just about every other shot missed by inches.
