Had a brief initial spell with Boro under Don McGovern, appearing in midfield early in the Division Two championship season before joining older brother Paul at Barking. Came back to Sungate in February 2001 to improve the backbone of experience at centre-back, eventually taking up the captain's armband and providing constant vocal backing to the defence. Finally lined up alongside Paul for Boro on their return to the Essex Senior League, becoming the first pair of brothers to score in the same game for Romford, on the opening day of the 2002-03 season. Remained the unofficial captain and always the loudest voice on the pitch even when the armband was handed to others, but led the side to the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy in 2004. Appeared to be losing too much pace but recovered well to become only the third player to reach 200 appearances for the Club, despite more frequent absences towards the end of 2005-06.
