'Centre-back often better known as J P signed during the 1993/94 season. Embarrassingly raw at first and somehow kept Davey Walker out of the team, but improved considerably and came up with a few goals at set pieces. Was in line for Player of the Year in 1994-95 before moving to Purfleet - signing off with a hat-trick after being given the no. 9 shirt. Recent arrival at Romford of brother Danny had made them the first pair of brothers to appear in the same line-up for Boro. Sustained a back injury while at Purfleet but made a five-minute comeback for Romford under Les Whitton.
