Tomorrow sees Boro travel to the coast to play bottom of the table FC Clacton and there are few important factors to consider for travelling Boro fans.
Kick-off time:
Tomorrow’s game kicks off at the slightly earlier time of 2pm.
Pitch Inspection:
No news at present as to whether there will be a pitch inspection but what with the recent weather having been very wet, keep an eye on social media for news of any inspections.
Public Transport:
Anyone considering travelling to this game by public transport should note that there is no service on the Elizabeth Line this weekend (a rail replacement bus service is in operation) while Greater Anglia services are replaced by buses between Newbury Park and Ingatestone.
While Boro were beating Stansted last Saturday, FC Clacton were kicking their heels after their visit to Buckhurst Hill was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The Seasiders were in action in midweek however, and they were beaten 2-1 at Ilford where the home side’s winning goal came in second half stoppage time. On target for Clacton on Wednesday was the much travelled striker Stuart Zanone, who is now The Seasiders’ leading scorer with four goals despite having played only four games for the club.
Previous Meetings:
There have been eight previous meetings between Boro and FC Clacton (including one when they were known as Clacton Town) and to date, Boro have won three and lost four. Earlier this season, Romford went nap against Clacton at Barking, winning 5-0 with goals from Ken Feyi, Chris Millar (pictured) , a brace from Same Ellwood, and own goal.
Last season the teams met three times with Boro winning both league encounters, 4-1 at home and 3-1 away. There was also a Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy tie at Clacton which the home side won 4-3 despite Hassan Nalbant bagging a hat-trick for Boro.
This Season:
FC Clacton have had a miserable season to date and currently occupy bottom place in the league with just 10 points from 24 games. Seventeenth is the highest they have reached this season and they have been bottom since mid-October. Only twice this season have The Seasiders earned maximum points; they won 3-1 at Hullbridge Sports in September, and in mid-January won 3-0 at home against Sawbridgeworth Town.
In the FA Cup, Clacton were beaten 6-0 at home by Leighton Town in the Extra-Preliminary Round and in the FA Vase were beaten 5-0 at Letchworth Garden City in the Second Qualifying Round.
They did manage a win in the Errington Challenge Cup, beating Sawbridgeworth 2-1 before losing 4-2 at home to Takeley. They also recorded a victory in the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy, but having won 4-3 at Barking they then lost at home to Saffron Walden Town.
Recent Form:
Clacton have picked up just four points from their last ten games. Aside from the recent win over Sawbridgeworth, the only other game in which they have taken a point was in a 1-1 draw away from home against Athletic Newham.
Home Ground and How To Get There:
FC Clacton play their home games at The Rush Green Bowl, Rush Green Road, Clacton on Sea, CO16 7BQ. By road that’s 62 miles and 90 minutes from Romford. As mentioned at the start of this page, train services are replaced for part of the route by replacement bus services.
Admission prices are as follows:
Adults £8, Seniors £5, Kids £3
Printed programme £2.00
The bar and burger van will be open from 12:30 to all visitors.
