Boro to face Stanway Pegasus in Fourth Round

Sixteen of Saturday’s Isuzu FA Vase Third Round ties were postponed and one was abandoned, so with only 15 teams confirmed as through, today’s draw contains more “either or’s” than definitive winners.

The games postponed on Saturday will now be played this coming Saturday, 9th December and include the all Essex Senior League game between Tilbury and Saffron Walden Town, and the games involving two other ESL sides: Great Wakering Rovers are away to Fakenham Town, and White Ensign are also away, at Walsham-le-Willows.

Great Wakering being required to travel to north Norfolk next Saturday means that our league game against them has been postponed; the date of the rearranged fixture will be announced in due course.

The draw made today for the Fourth Round has given Boro a home tie against Stanway Pegasus of the Eastern Counties League Division One North. This tie will be played on Saturday 13th January 2024 and means that our home game against Tilbury in the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy will have to be rearranged.

The Fourth Round is the last 32 of the competition and a win against Stanway Pegasus would equal the club’s best ever performance in the competition. That was in 1996-97, when as Collier Row & Romford, Boro reached the Fifth Round, but were then beaten in a replay at Bedlington Terriers.

The full draw for the Fourth Round of the Isuzu FA Vase, with Essex Senior League teams in bold, is:

1 Ramsbottom United or Hallam v Newcastle University or Silsden
2 Blyth Town or Bishop Auckland v Whickham or Irlam
3 Emley or West Didsbury & Chorlton v Carlisle City or Charnock Richard
4 Ashville or South Liverpool v Lincoln United or Congleton Town
