A Personal Message From Dan Spinks

Some parting words from our FA Vase winning manager

First and foremost, I would like to say a few thank you’s.

Thank you to Steve and Colin for giving me the opportunity to manage this fantastic football club.

Thank you to all the fans that have followed us throughout the last 2 seasons.

Thank you to every single player that has played a part in helping Romford achieve what we did last season. Promotion was my number one target when we started this campaign, and although we fell just short, it was a tremendous effort from all involved.

Thank you to all of my back room staff. Without your help and endurance in listening to me rant over and over we couldn’t have got to where we did.

My decision to step down as manager has been the hardest thing I have had to decide upon. Not only was I manager of this football club, I become a fan of the club and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I sourced a ground for the club that became a temporary home, encouraged by the fact that we wanted it to be a family club that welcomed everyone.

Although we achieved this in the short term, after some discussions we realised that this wasn’t possible to sustain long term. To try and restart the whole process after 18 months of blood, sweat, and tears has ultimately become a step too far for me, and I believe someone with a fresh start and an abundance of energy will go on to achieve our ultimate goal of getting this fantastic club back to where they belong.

I would like to wish Kris Newby the absolute best moving forward. I couldn’t think of a better man to take this club forward

Whatever happens moving forward, Romford will hold a special place in my heart. To lead the team out at Wembley in a national competition, and to lift the trophy at the end of it was the proudest moment in my career.

As always. Up The Boro
